Details of Third Trial of Talgo Train 


Spanish Talgo train started its Third trial between New Delhi-Mumbai route on 1st August, 2016 when it was departed at 7:55 PM from Platform No. 2 of New Delhi Railway station, Western Railway give a details of this.  Talgo Train Trial between New Delhi – Mumbai Central completed as per the expectations.

Report for the first leg of time validation trials of Spanish Talgo Train from New Delhi to Mumbai Central. Talgo special Train departed from New Delhi at 19:55 hrs.


  • It travelled through the same route which is followed by the New Delhi – Mumbai Rajdhani Express train No. 12952. It also observed the same permanent and temporary speed restrictions as well as the sectional speeds of Rajdhani Express Train No. 12952.  
  • The existing Rajdhani Express takes 15:50 hrs from New Delhi – Mumbai Central. 
  • Talgo train because of heavy rains enroute and due to point failure at Mathura Junction, reached at 11:36 AM at Mumbai Central. (15:41 hrs)
  • There was water logging beyond Surat between Udvada – Vapi – Bhilad section, which considerably delayed the movement of trains as speed restrictions had to be imposed for safety reasons.
  • Accordingly beyond Surat the Talgo train could not implement its trial schedule because of the reason beyond their control.
  • In any way from Delhi – Surat Talgo train took around 2 hours less in comparison to Rajdhani Express.
  • The Talgo train fully succeeded in its maiden trial between New Delhi & Mumbai.
  • But for the reasons mentioned above it would have taken approximately 3hours less than the Rajdhani train in reaching Mumbai Central. It means that it would have reached in 12 hours 47 minutes as claimed and planned.
  • Average Running Speed of Rajdhani Express (New Delhi-Surat) – 89.76 kmph
  • Average Running Speed of Talgo Train (New Delhi-Surat) – 106.52 kmph

Mumbai - Delhi less than 13 hours on Talgo Trains

In the first week of August, a Mumbai to Delhi train journey within 13 hours could come true. As part of the final phase of trials the nine - coach Talgo, the Spanish - manufactured high - speed train,  will undertake three trips between Mumbai and Delhi between August 1 and 5, a famous Newspaper reported.

The Talgo trian will depart from New Delhi at 7.55 pm on August 1st and will maintain a speed of 130 km/h during the entire journey. " The Talgo officials have said that at this speed, the distacnce of 1384 kms will be covered in 14 hours and 5 minutes. Currently the Rajdhani Express touches 130 km/h and takes nearly 16 hours to cover the dame distance " Western Railway source said.

The test drive only gets better during the return journey, scheduled for August 3. "The train will depart Mumbai at 3 am, and th goal is to reach Delhi by evening. 

During the last run, on August 5, the train will clock 150 km/h throughout the journey, which is likely to be completed in 12 hours and 55 minutes,' the Western Railway source source said.

The railway officials said that the top brass, including Railway Minster Suresh Prabhu, have pinned hopes on the three trial runs, which will determine how soon the Talgo trains can be pressed into services.

Currently the Gatiman Express between Delhi and Agra is the fastest Indian train at 160 km/h. The Talgo trains can clock 180 km/h. What we are trying to assess is the train's performance on the curves. During the test run, we will increase the speed of the train on curves, as Talgo's coaches can achieve higher speeds on curves compared to other coaches.' a senior railway official said. 

Composition

The nine coach Talgo train consist of two executive class compartments, four chair cars, a cafeteria, a power car, and a tail-end coach of equipment. A few days ago, the train completed the Mathrua - Palwal test run at 180 km/h.

Heighlights


  • Spain based Talgo stands for Tren Ariculado Ligero Goicoechea Oriol, whic means light articulated train, and Goicoechea and Oriol are the company's owners.
  • It is easily the fastest train on the Indian tracks, after it completed the Mathura-Palwal stretch at 180 km/h. The distance of 84 km was covered in 38 minutes.
  • It is 20 Km/h faster than the Gatimaan Express, which has a maximum speed of 160 km/h. The other fast trains in India are the Shatabdi Express at 150 km/h, and the Rajdhani Express at 130 km/h.

TALGO TRAIN 


On July 14th , Spanish-made Talgo became the fastest train in the country by clocking a speed of 180km/hr by covering 84 km in 38 minutes in a trial conducted by Railways on Mathura-Palwal route. It surpassed the record of Gatimaan Express. The maximum speed of Gatimaan Express is 160 Km/hr, Shatabdi Express is 150 km/hr and Rajdhani Express is 130 km/hr

TALGO Train Trial Run : Mathura - Palwal


Talgo train trial starts today onwards from Mathura. Railway will run the Spanish Train Talgo at a maximum speed of up to 180 km per hour during the second phase trail on Saturday from Mathura station. The second phase trail will be held between Mathura and Palwal stations on July 9 i.e today under the leadership of GM NCR. Today TALGO first trail run between Mathura and Palwal and the train departed from Mathura at 12.40 hrs and arrive Palwal at 13.35 hrs.

Talgo train envisages to complete the journey between Delhi and Mumbai in about 12 hours as compared to 17 hours at present. While the Rajadhani Express runs at an average speed of 85 km per hour, Talgo can maintain an average speed of 125 km per hour.The nine-coach Talgo train consists of two executive class cars, four chair cars, a cafeteria,  a power car and a tail-end coach for staff and equipment. Besides reducing travel time, Talgo's lighter trains consume 30 percent less energy.

Earlier trail was carried out between Bareilly and Moradabad stations last month. A team of Spanish officials along with railways officials and experts from Research Designs and Standards Organisation will be present on board during the nine-coach Talgo train trail run. Talgo coaches are lightweight and designed in a way that it can run on curves without decelerating the speed.

The trail will continue till July 28 and various aspects will be observed during the trial run. After the successful launch of semi-high speed Gatimaan Express, Talgo trail is being conducted as part of railways strategy to increase  the speed of trains.

The trial will be conducted with empty coaches and after filling those with sand bags. The testing team will be in the coaches during the trail run. Besides speed, testing team will also take note of vibration, safety and stability of lightweight coaches during th trial and these technical parameters were vital for high speed run.

About the earlier trail results, the official said the report was under preparation with analysis of various technical data. If the preliminary report is okay there will also be a final trial between Mumbai-Delhi route before finalizing the report.
